1/8/13 Today we: reviewed homework above. Introduced lesson 4-6, with a compare/contrast of the vocabulary (Proper and improper fractions, and mixed numbers.) We reviewed how to change from one to the other. Much of this was addressed in our PERK program and in previous classes. Homework is:Worksheet, reteach and practice 4-5
1/9/13 Today we: Had a pop quiz on Proper and improper fractions, and mixed numbers. They were corrected and returned for correction to errors. Completed discussions of lesson 4-6 Students worked on completing Fraction books that they began last week. Homework is: Put finishing touches on Fraction Books Lesson 4-6 pg 184-185, # 6-32, expect pop quiz problems Correct pop quiz problems on the back of quiz paper
1/10/13 Today we Reviewed last nights homework, correcting any misconceptions , answering 'how' questions Classwork was to complete Checkpoint quiz 2 on pg 187, which we reviewed for any further questions and placed in notes section of binders, (not graded) Introduced Lesson 4-7 Least Common Multiples (LCM), incorporating a discussion of how they differ from Greatest Common Factor (GCF) Homework is: Lesson 4-7, pg 190-191, # 1-5, 6-33 o/e
NOTE: o/e refers to the students doing the odd numbered or the even numbered problems. The problems they do are related to their classlist number
7th Grade 1/7/13 Today we reviewed lesson 4-5 Exploring 2-Step Equations on pages 194-196 and worked on lesson 4-6 Solving 2-Step Equations on pages 200-202 Homework is:Lesson 4-6, pg 203, #5,8,11,14,17,20,23,26. Each must be completed in a similar fashion as the examples on pgs. 200-201. .
1/8/13 Today we Discussed inverse operations Continued working with two-step equations with all four functions and how, different from PEMDAS, for these problems addition and subtraction is used first in the process of isolating the unknown variable. Homework is: Reteach/Practice 4-5 worksheet and practice 4-6 worksheets
1/9/13 Today we Had a Pop Quiz Continued discussions on Lesson 4-6. (Students are finding this difficult) Compared/contrasted phases and equations Reviewed inverse operations Practiced with a Simple Linear Equations worksheet Homework is: Lesson 4-6 , pg 203, # 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28 Complete classwork (Simple Linear Equations worksheet) 1/10/13 Today we Reviewed last nights homework. Retook Pop Quiz, and graded it in class. We then went through, problem by problem to discover what was the thought process behind any mistakes, to avoid them in the future. Homework is: Extra Practice, pg 636-637, # 14-25, 37-40 (Due before leaving for the field trip)
1/11/13 7th grade is on a field trip to the Museum of Science Homework will be distributed upon their return. It will be practice worksheets for lesson 4-4 and 4-6 *****There is a Quiz on Monday. Sections 4-4 to 4-6.*****
Looking forward... there will be a test on Chapter 4 Thursday or Friday of next week.
8th Grade 1/7/13 Today in Math we took the Check Your Readiness test, chapter 4, (pg 158) and corrected it in class. Homework is: Any incorrect problems are to be corrected this evening. Vocabulary (pg159) with definitions into reference section of binder. Tables from pgs. 166 and 168 into reference section of binder.
Today in Science we completed the movie October Sky which related to the chapters we completed before vacation. Homework, due Friday 1/11/13, is: Read pgs. 74-80. Complete Section 1 Assessment, pg 80, #1-5 (math practice is only #4 and 5 on pg 80)3
1/8/13 Today in Math we: Reviewed to basics of proportion and how to cross multiply. Discussed how rates, ratios and proportions will be implimente throughout this chapter and in real life situations. (ie price comparisons) Homework is: Read lesson 4-1 and complete quickchecks and check your understanding
1/9/13 Today in Math we: Worked on Lesson 4-1 Discussed what the differences were between rate, unit rate and ratio Corrected/reviewed the quick checks(Last nights homework) and associated problems. Classwork (to be completed at home) is a simple Equivalent Fractions worksheet for the purpose of practicing the algerbraic process of solving ratio/rate problems Homework is:Lesson 4-1, pg 162-163, # 8-30 Complete classwork, Equivalent Fractions worksheet
